DEVELOP THE MUSICAL AND BUSINESS SKILLS OF REAL PRO GUITARISTS
Are you ready to sharpen up your guitar and business skills so you can work more?
Do you know how to dress for an audition?
Can you walk in to any audition with exactly the right skills to get the gig?
Can you nail your tracks the first time when you get a session?
Can you do what is required of any gig?
Do you know how to find work other than reading Craigslist or local ads?
If you have a day job, do you know how to get a tax refund from your music career?
Do you know how to get endorsement deals?
Do you know the difference between playing professionally and playing exclusively in bars?
Do you know how to get the same sounds in a large venue that you get in a club?
Can you sight read if that is what is required?
If your answer is no to any of these questions, I can help. There is only one reason musicians don’t work: You need ALL of the right skills.
Best New Guitarist In A Decade — Rolling Stone Magazine (a long time ago)
New York Guitar Guru — The Village Voice
I have been teaching Classical/Jazz/Rock for years since Music School and a real professional musician whose recordings and videos can be bought in any music store. I am not an out of work musician teaching because I don’t have gigs. I do teach privately one day each week because I have much to offer and enjoy teaching. If I had to teach for a living, I wouldn’t be properly qualified to be a teacher. All styles rock, classical, jazz, fingerstyle, acoustic/folk and traditional or jazz theory.
I have taught entertainment law, music industry and a variety of other courses at twelve Universities and colleges that reviewed my teaching skills every semester before renewing my contract when my schedule allowed, including the State University of New York, Syracuse University, University of California, Volunteer State Community College, and I was the Faculty Chair of the music industry program at SAE Institute in Nashville.
I don’t take credit for the hard work of my students over the past years that have received Masters Degrees in Music that are music professors at colleges such as Cazenovia College, The New School, or Manhattan College of Music, or my students that are on almost every major record label including but not limited to Sony, Elektra, and RCA. They did the work, I only showed them the path of professional players.
I do prepare students to attend music school, help students that are attending music school that aren’t getting their needs met by their college guitar instructor, and teach both established artists with serious careers or up and coming players that wish to advance their musical skills with no formal music background.
MY BACKGROUND:
Performing and recording credits as the guitarist and/or musical director for greater than 40 Gold and Platinum award winning household name rock, r&b, and blues musical artists headlining everywhere from Entertainment Tonight to VH-1 to Madison Square Garden to PBS to The America West Arena to The Time Life Video Series to Nashville Star.
Newest product released is historical guitar music for Sony.
Doctorate
Four years traditional music school (Classical Guitar Performance: Syracuse University, I was also the referral guitar instructor for non-majors).
Special Studies Program at Berklee College of Music, and private lessons with top jazz guitarists including Sal Salvador and Jack Wilkins.
Full-time Professional Player (telephone to ask where you can come see me perform, where I do sessions, find out what cds and videos to purchase at your local music outlet).
Convenient high quality location.
Starting at $20 for in-person lessons in Tennessee, or by Zoom, or do a combination of both. Hopefully, I have the lowest rates around. It would be pretty sad if I had to teach guitar for a living.
Thank you for visiting.
